RESCUE

UPDATED 3RD AUGUST

PLEASE NOTE WE ALL OFFER OUR HELP VOLUNTARILY IN OUR SPARE TIME

OUR RESCUE SCHEME IS OVERSTRETCHED – WE ARE NOT A RE-HOMING SERVICE

WE DON’T HAVE KENNELS AND OPERATE ON A HOME-TO-HOME BASIS

WE ARE NOT ABLE TO RESCUE DOGS THAT HAVE UNPREDICTABLE TEMPERAMENTS AROUND PEOPLE

The East Anglian SBT Club Rescue Scheme was set up during the 1980s to help Stafford owners that found themselves in extreme dire straits (i.e. death of owner, terminal or debilitating illness) but unfortunately along the way we have increasingly become the first port of call for anyone who finds that they either can't manage or don't want their dog. Where EASBTC does assist with rescue owners will be asked to make a minimum donation of £20 to offset assessment and administration costs.

WALKS FOR RESCUE

OFFERING A HOME TO A RESCUE DOG  little bruiser looking much less swollen after 2 weeks of treatment for mange in a wonderful new home

Please consider carefully if you are willing to offer a permanent home to a rescue dog……..

      ·         Is a Stafford the right dog for you and your family?

·         Staffords can live well in to their ‘teens’

·         They may not always be good natured around other dogs or animals

·         They are a very people orientated breed and generally lively

·         Staffords need consistency and sensible handling

E-mail our rescue admin Sian Please let us know your name, address and contact details in the first instance.

E-mail our Rescue Co-ordinator Jo Ann for further information on any of the dogs or ring her on our rescue mobile 07912 359 058 - Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays only please between 8am - 7pm

After your initial enquiry we will need to organise a home check.  This is to help us match you with the right dog(s) to view.  Our dogs are from the East Anglian region. We can organise home checks out of our area but it may be difficult for you to travel to visit any potential dog; if this is the case we can advise you of your local Stafford rescue.

Please be patient with us as we all offer our help voluntarily in our spare time.

Please ensure good communication with us and we would appreciate knowing if you are looking elsewhere.  It can be very frustrating (as well as wasting precious rescue funds) to organise homechecks, handovers etc., to find that it has been unsuccessful because someone has found a suitable dog elsewhere and not let us know.

We rarely have puppies available through our Rescue Scheme.  If you are looking to get a puppy contact our Club Secretary, Lesley, for advice on buying a DNA health tested Kennel Club registered puppy from a reputable breeder.

If you give one of our dogs a home, we expect a minimum £80 donation. You will receive membership for one year to the EASBTC. You will also receive our rescue package, including training and breed information.

DO YOU NEED HELP TO ENABLE YOU TO KEEP YOUR DOG?  Sometimes people feel that they can't give their dogs enough time and that they would be better off in another home with someone who can offer more.....realistically that perfect home often just isn't out there and both the owner and the dog have to make do with what they have.  With most people having to work longer hours these days it is often lack of time that causes the problems - there are many ways to entertain and exercise your dog that perhaps you haven't realised.  We are more than happy to be able to offer solutions so that the dog can remain in his home - if you feel you would like this help then please see the advice here

DO YOU NEED HELP TO ENABLE YOU TO RE-HOME YOUR DOG?  Our first advice to anyone wanting to re-home a dog would be to contact the person you got the dog from.  Whoever bred the dog is responsible for bringing him into the world and should therefore have a degree of responsibility for him throughout his life.  If you aren't able to contact the breeder, or they will not accept their responsibilities, then we are able to offer some help and advice to help YOU to find a suitable home for him please see the advice here

If your Stafford originally came from a Rescue centre you should contact them as they should be responsible for taking the dog back if you cannot manage with it.  Battersea Dogs Home has very helpful behavioural advice leaflets and a help line open to anyone, not just those who have re-homed a dog through Battersea. http://www.battersea.org.uk/help_advice/publications/dog_behaviour_advice/index.html

It is a sorry fact of life that there are just not enough good homes out there for all the unwanted dogs.

PLEASE NOTE WE ALL OFFER OUR HELP VOLUNTARILY IN OUR SPARE TIME (of which we have little!) – WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET BACK TO YOU IMMEDIATELY OR TO WORK MIRACLES BUT WE TRY OUR VERY BEST…..FOR THE DOG’S SAKE!   PLEASE BE PATIENT!

'EASBTC Rescue does not endorse any person(s) claiming support of our Rescue Scheme'

HOMES NEEDED

WE WANT A LOVING FOREVER HOME - CAN YOU HELP US?????

IF YOU WOULD LIKE FURTHER DETAILS PLEASE CONTACT US

 ROSIE    KANE

CASPER

TED

MAX     SMOKEY

KANE

Kane is a lovely brindle 8 yr old boy. He is very urgently looking for a new home as he can't stay where he is for much longer as his current owner is not allowed dogs in his rented house. Kane is castrated, vaccinate, chipped and has just had a yearly check up and 'all clear' from the vet. He has lived with a bitch before and is ok around other dogs. He is a very well trained and obedient dog and loves nothing better than a run and splashing around in water. His current owner is very upset at the thought of having to give up Kane but due to a relationship break up and moving to a new house he has no choice. Can you offer Kane a loving home. He really is a lovely boy

SMOKEY

Smokey is a 4 year old male who has been brought up around children.  More info when assessed

ROSIE

Rosie has been being looked after since she had to have an operation on her leg and her previous home couldn't keep her.  She can't stay with the current foster home and needs to go to a new home

Rosie is a three year old, brindle entire bitch.  She is micro-chipped and has been on strict cage rest since her operation at the end of May for cruciate ligament repair but is recovering very well. She pulls on the lead but of course because of her operation hasn't had much exercise recently.  She has had some training and will sit, lie down and roll over on command.   She can 'give a paw' and 'speak' when asked.  She is great with children and has been sociable with other dogs.

MAX

Max is a 7 year old male who has been neutered and microchipped but does need his vaccinations. He is used to being around children aged 5 and over and is not destructive when left.  He is being re-homed as his owner can't keep him at his new accommodation following a house fire

CASPER

Casper is still looking for a forever home - he is currently staying long term with the rehab kennels (they love him!!!) and has a home for life there if need be, but surely he deserves a home where he can live indoors and be the centre of someone's world?

***    NEW PIX OF CASPER    ***

Casper has been with us for a long time now - he has been in kennels and just before Christmas he was transferred to a specific rehabilitation kennel for thorough assessment.  Casper has shown that he is a people loving dog, eager to please, very good on the lead.  Although he is not sociable with other animals he is learning to tolerate and ignore them and with continued training in an experienced home he will be a valued canine companion.  If you have experience of the breed, have no other animals in your home, and have the time to continue with Casper's training please consider him - he deserves a chance of a loving, permanent home.  Casper has been neutered and has lived with children

FRED

Fred also has been in kennels for a long time and really deserves a home to live in.  Fred is a strong dog, and is not dog-friendly so does need an experienced home with no other pets, but he is a lively dog who will enjoy long walks on lead and someone to play with him.

Fred's only real vice is not being sociable around other dogs - with the right owner he will slot happily in to routine

NELSON

   Dreams can come true!!!!!

Nelson has found his new home.......the right homes are out there, sometimes it just takes a while to find them!

Nelson has been very lucky after his long time in kennels - now can we manage to find loving homes for

Fred and Casper?  They must be out there somewhere.............
