RESCUE 'Happy Endings'

We all love happy endings and just thought we'd like to share a few with you below!

AMY

We collected little Amy from a stray kennels on what should of been her last day, this is her new owners comments after having just a few days.  Amy is now called Jess.

Just to let you know everything went ok at the vets, she was thoroughly checked out, had her jabs and due for a booster in 2 weeks.   They said she can be spayed in a month’s time and then they will micro-chip her.  They age her between 8 to 12 months so we have gone for 10 months which means her new birthday will be March 15th.  She has settled in really well, hasn’t had any accidents yet!  She’s eating well and is really playful.  She follows you everywhere, she was even laying in the bathroom while I was showering Tim at the weekend!  She was a bit wary when we first took her out for a walk but once she realised we were heading back home, she started getting excited and wagging her tail, she’s also a bit like that in the car. All in all it is truly a delight to have her and everyone who meets her falls in love with her.

JOYCE

An update on Joyce (nowMeg). She has settled very well and seems to be a very placid girlie. She follows me everywhere and I mean everywhere, loves her new toys and enjoys her fetch games with Conor!  She doesn't like being left when I go to work and has escaped from the kitchen into the living room, managing to move the bolt on the door. Very clever girl! I've decided to let her have the run of the house tomorrow as she hasn't been destructive.

joycenowmeg.jpg (158905 bytes)She is one of the family already (as I knew when I saw her, that she would be) and I wish this house was bigger as I would have a few more!! Anyway I will definately e-mail you some pictures when I work out how to transfer them from my digital camera!!!

CASPER

Casper when he came into rescueCasper came to us an 18 month old stray, he was a big handsome boy with a big heart to match! This is Casper (now Jaspers new owners comments)

Casper now happily rehomed and loving life!Hi Wendy, just a quick update. Casper was brilliant in the car, he just laid down in the footwell & slept all the way home. Last night he met all the family & loved all the attention he recieved from my daughters, their boyfriends & the grandchildren.Gave him a bath this morning (not sure which one of us got wetter) then off to the vets for his jab.

Met Rosemary the vet, who thought he was a very handsome chap. After that it was a long walk during which we encountered several dogs, which he totally ignored. He's now lying at my feet snoring his head off while i'm typing this.I'll keep you updated & send some pics soon. Thank you again, Neil.

DEMPSEY

dempsey.jpg (23487 bytes)Dempsey has settled lovely.  We go out for walks twice a day and he has the run of the garden for most of the day.  He is getting spoilt rotten by everyone.  He's got new bed, collar and loads of toys!  He has a mad half hour when I get in from work, but then calms down and has 40winks. Boy can he snore! He's like my shadow at the moment.  Everywhere I go in the house, he follows me.  I will send you some photos as soon as camera is working. Thanks Kelly & Dempsey

MOLLY

This is Molly with Flick McMillian pictured at our recent EASBTC agility show.  Flick will be remembered by many of our longer serving East Anglian members - in her day she was to be seen with Staffords both in the show and obedience rings.  She was the owner of Ch Touch and Go at Beaconmoor among others.  Just before Christmas 'Molly' was dumped at a local veterinary surgery suffering from a pyometra (infected womb).  This condition can sometimes be fatal; fortunately for Molly the vet decided she was strong enough to withstand the operation and perfomed it immediately.  Once Molly was on the road to recovery it became important to find her a new home as it was obvious as her previous owners had no more use for her.  Flick came to the rescue and offered Molly the loving and caring home she deserved.  Shortly after she went to live with Flick it was discovered that she had problems with her eyes which needed operating on.  Again the operations were a great success and now Molly and Flick enjoy each others company.

HARVEY

harveyHarvey came to us a 11 month old easily excited, boistrous dog, needing lot's of exercise to stretch his legs. He is tremendously affectionate. He came from a home which cared for him greatly but could not offer him the time and attention he needed. After 3 weeks he has settled in very well, from the outset he walked into the utility room and declared it his, so he tends to sleep eat and drink there. He has another bed in our kitchen where he spends his time during the day and evenings.  Training Harvey is a joy, he does have a short span of attention but is always pleased to do things right and loves to be rewarded. He sits on command, will wait for about 20 seconds and always comes when called, he is learning how to walk at heel and not pull when distracted.  Harvey is lucky enough to have 3-4 walks a day on top of enjoying the garden. He is a much calmer dog now. He is always excited at the prospect of a walk and will eventually sit on command to have his harness put on before taking his lead to the front door.  Harvey has a passion for sitting on the Sofa and has learnt to only get on when invited, when he loves to curl up on a warm lap. Harvey is tremendously affectionate, he loves to please and adores attention from other people, who rush up to him, crouch down and say he is a lovely staffie, he returns the attention by licking there ears, learn to enjoy the ear licking over time.

GALAXY

galaxyGalaxy is a lovely brindle boy aged 8 years old and was rehomed due to his owner emigrating.   Galaxy now spends his days doted on by his new owners who live just yards from the beach, he is walked every day on the beach at least 5 miles and enjoys every fun filled moment!

He has his own secure garden  and Galaxy also makes regular visits to the local old peoples home where he is much loved and thoroughly spoilt!!  His owners think he is just perfect and he has settled in very well from day 1

SCOOBY (Now TED)

Scooby is now 'Ted' and very happy in his new home!!You'll be pleased to know Ted enjoyed his holiday. You were right about the sheep. Ted got very excited when he realised the long drive to the farmhouse had sheep either side, luckily they were fenced in. Unfortunately the sheep on Old man coniston were not! It was very much a military stand-off until the sheep decided it would be best to leave.

My arms are at least 6 inches longer since the holiday! I don't know if you've experienced this but staffies are as good as gold going up the mountains with no real pulling on the lead. Going back down is a totally different ball game. It could be that Ted was a bit chilly or it could be he was scared of heights. I don't think it was either of those. I think Ted realised it was home time and he just wanted to see me go arse over tit!! (excuse the expression).

Trying to climb down a slate based mountain in the rain and wind whilst being pulled by a staffie it was inevitable I was going to fall on my arse, I think Ted saw the funny side of it (Kerry certainly did)  I was surprised by the amount of people who stopped and chattered because they are or have been staffie owners. Didn't actually see their dogs but the chat was good.

Anyway, we've got some great pictures, unfortunately not on the digi camera, I'll get them scanned at work and get some to you.

Take care and I'll see you soon. Carl

BAGLEY

Bagley is settling in brilliantly (mostly!).His personality is developing, as are his muscles. He is soppy, exitable, responsive and great fun.He has endeared himself to everyone he has met-even non-dog lovers!  I invested in a cage which serves its function for short periods, but he did wreck his nose trying to get out! I have also had a 14ft dog run made, with a nice bed area which he managed to semi-destroy on his second time in it (even though he had his Kong, chews, pieces of wood to chew) It had been made with extra strong wood and mesh, but our little blunderbus managed to get through-I'm reinforcing it this weekend!

Seriously, he is wonderful.Harriett is totally besotted, Jess is very happy with him, and he is well known in the village already. He is a creature of routine-must have a cuddle, then food, then he will go out. He is very good on his walks-I am letting him go further without the lead, and regularly calling him back-he is doing well.He has added lots of work, financial problems, more chaos, and lots and lots of love and fun-what more could we ask for? We love him to bits!!  Thanks again-will send some photos when I have them

Another update on Bagley: -  Won't be able to make this as we are elsewhere that weekend. Just to update you-Bagley is wonderful. He has settled so well. Both my daughters adore him, and he has really helped Jess in her recovery since coming out of hospital. She talks, laughs and sings to him and this has been an amazing encouragement as she has been so silent for so long. His unconditonal love is also what she has needed. Many thanks again for giving us the chance to have him! Have a great Christmas.(We are hoping he won't pinch the turkey!)

SCRUMPY

Scrumpy has settled in just fine, he is enjoying his new home and family very much. He is walking about four or five miles a day with three of us taking him out each day. He had his first visit to the Vets last Saturday and had his first jabs; he is going back next week to complete them. The vet thought Scrumpy should put on a bit more weight; he currently weighs 17.8Kg / 39.6 pounds. We are going to try to get him up to about 45 to 48 pounds and Sid thought this would be about the right for him.

The jumping up that was such a problem to start with is almost none existent now, Scrumpy is very well behaved and after licking visitors hands he happily lies on the floor.  He has not chewed anything, we bought him a Kong, a large knotted rope and an indestructible plastic ball and these seem to keep him happy (especially the ball).  We have decided that we will not let Scrumpy of the lead for the moment and have bought him a 5M recoil lead that gives him a bit more freedom at the seafront or down the backwaters.

"DAISY"

Daisy when she came into usJust to let you know how Daisy is settling in. She seems very well in herself, eating everything put down to her including pasta or rice. Her ribs are less noticable and we feel she is putting on weight. She walks well on a lead we have got her a wander lead and we have delayed contacting you until now as daisy had an appointment with the vet this morning and we wanted to here her opinion before getting back to you.

Daisy now happy in her new home where she is spoilt wrotten and wants for nothing!Daisy is very well a little thin but very fit. There are no adverse signs she probably has had a litter, she cannot tell if she has been speyed she weighs 14 kilos, her weight did surprise us at nearly 31lbs(old money) she was heavier than we thought. Thats it for now will keep you in touch with daisy's progress.

"MOJO"

Its all going very well here with Joe, as Mojo is now called. He obviously didn't notice the change! He's very fit, coat shining and I think a bit stockier- lots of walks about 2 hours a day usually. A couple of trips to the Vets has sorted out the earmites on his ears and he's had his inoculations and been microchipped. We're planning to have him neutered after Xmas.

Joe became pretty settled here quite quickly. After the first week sleeping in his cage, he now spends the night in his bed in the kitchen, in fact sometimes settles down there without being told to. He's very good in the house, doesn't jump on the furniture or beg for food when we're eating. He is very playful and is obsessed with rubber balls - very difficult to get him to let go of one. Probably, best of all he seems to tolerate other dogs well. He will almost ignore a leadless dog rushing up to him on a lead - great!  So, all in all we are very very happy with him. Thanks for letting us have him.

"HARRY"

Harry 'before'Harry spent quite some time looking for a home, but a more 'right' home could not of been found for him than the one he now has!  Harry is now called 'Mista' and is walked on the beach twice daily, other than this he spends his days with his 'dad' and many friends that he has made in the short time he's been with his new family.Harry now in his new home!

Despite trying for a couple of months to put weight on Harry whilst he was with us, kennels didn't suit him and although he was always a loving boy, he was getting depressed and the weight just wouldn't go on - But 'Mista' is now looking much better as the photographs show!

The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog…he will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world…when all other friends desert, he remains
