RESCUE 'HAPPY ENDINGS'
We all love happy endings and just thought we'd like to share a few with you below!
AMY
We collected little Amy from a stray kennels on what should of been her last day, this is her new owners comments after having just a few days. Amy is now called Jess.
Just to let you know everything went ok at the vets, she was thoroughly checked out, had her jabs and due for a booster in 2 weeks. They said she can be spayed in a months time and then they will micro-chip her. They age her between 8 to 12 months so we have gone for 10 months which means her new birthday will be March 15th. She has settled in really well, hasnt had any accidents yet! Shes eating well and is really playful. She follows you everywhere, she was even laying in the bathroom while I was showering Tim at the weekend! She was a bit wary when we first took her out for a walk but once she realised we were heading back home, she started getting excited and wagging her tail, shes also a bit like that in the car. All in all it is truly a delight to have her and everyone who meets her falls in love with her.
JOYCE

An update on Joyce (nowMeg). She has settled very well and seems to be a very placid girlie. She follows me everywhere and I mean everywhere, loves her new toys and enjoys her fetch games with Conor! She doesn't like being left when I go to work and has escaped from the kitchen into the living room, managing to move the bolt on the door. Very clever girl! I've decided to let her have the run of the house tomorrow as she hasn't been destructive.

She is one of the family already (as I knew when I saw her, that she would be) and I wish this house was bigger as I would have a few more!! Anyway I will definitely e-mail you some pictures when I work out how to transfer them from my digital camera!!!
CASPER
Casper came to us an 18 month old
stray, he was a big handsome boy with a big heart to match! This is Casper (now Jaspers
new owners comments)
Hi Wendy, just a
quick update. Casper was brilliant in the car, he just laid down in the footwell &
slept all the way home. Last night he met all the family & loved all the attention he
recieved from my daughters, their boyfriends & the grandchildren. Gave him a bath this
morning (not sure which one of us got wetter) then off to the vets for his jab.
Met Rosemary the vet, who thought he was a very handsome chap. After that it was a long walk during which we encountered several dogs, which he totally ignored. He's now lying at my feet snoring his head off while I'm typing this. I'll keep you updated & send some pics soon. Thank you again, Neil.
DEMPSEY
Dempsey has
settled lovely. We go out for walks twice a day and he has the run of the garden for
most of the day. He is getting spoilt rotten by everyone. He's got new bed,
collar and loads of toys! He has a mad half hour when I get in from work, but then
calms down and has 40winks. Boy can he snore! He's like my shadow at the
moment. Everywhere I go in the house, he follows me. I will send you some
photos as soon as camera is working. Thanks Kelly & Dempsey
MOLLY
Molly went to live with Flick McMillian . Flick will be remembered by many of our longer serving East Anglian members - in her day she was to be seen with Staffords both in the show and obedience rings. She was the owner of Ch Touch and Go at Beaconmoor among others. Just before Christmas 'Molly' was dumped at a local veterinary surgery suffering from a pyometra (infected womb). This condition can sometimes be fatal; fortunately for Molly the vet decided she was strong enough to withstand the operation and performed it immediately. Once Molly was on the road to recovery it became important to find her a new home as it was obvious as her previous owners had no more use for her. Flick came to the rescue and offered Molly the loving and caring home she deserved. Shortly after she went to live with Flick it was discovered that she had problems with her eyes which needed operating on. Again the operations were a great success
HARVEY
Harvey came to us an 11 month old easily excited, boisterous dog, needing lot's of exercise to stretch his legs. He is tremendously affectionate. He came from a home which cared for him greatly but could not offer him the time and attention he needed. After 3 weeks he has settled in very well, from the outset he walked into the utility room and declared it his, so he tends to sleep eat and drink there. He has another bed in our kitchen where he spends his time during the day and evenings. Training Harvey is a joy, he does have a short span of attention but is always pleased to do things right and loves to be rewarded. He sits on command, will wait for about 20 seconds and always comes when called, he is learning how to walk at heel and not pull when distracted. Harvey is lucky enough to have 3-4 walks a day on top of enjoying the garden. He is a much calmer dog now. He is always excited at the prospect of a walk and will eventually sit on command to have his harness put on before taking his lead to the front door. Harvey has a passion for sitting on the Sofa and has learnt to only get on when invited, when he loves to curl up on a warm lap. Harvey is tremendously affectionate, he loves to please and adores attention from other people, who rush up to him, crouch down and say he is a lovely staffie, he returns the attention by licking there ears, learn to enjoy the ear licking over time.
GALAXY
Galaxy is a lovely brindle boy aged 8 years old and was rehomed due to his owner emigrating. Galaxy now spends his days doted on by his new owners who live just yards from the beach, he is walked every day on the beach at least 5 miles and enjoys every fun filled moment!
He has his own secure garden and Galaxy also makes regular visits to the local old peoples home where he is much loved and thoroughly spoilt!! His owners think he is just perfect and he has settled in very well from day 1
SCOOBY (Now TED)
You'll be pleased to know Ted enjoyed his holiday. You were right about the sheep. Ted got very excited when he realised the long drive to the farmhouse had sheep either side, luckily they were fenced in. Unfortunately the sheep on Old man Coniston were not! It was very much a military stand-off until the sheep decided it would be best to leave.
My arms are at least 6 inches longer since the holiday! I don't know if you've experienced this but staffies are as good as gold going up the mountains with no real pulling on the lead. Going back down is a totally different ball game. It could be that Ted was a bit chilly or it could be he was scared of heights. I don't think it was either of those. I think Ted realised it was home time and he just wanted to see me go arse over tit!! (excuse the expression).
Trying to climb down a slate based mountain in the rain and wind whilst being pulled by a staffie it was inevitable I was going to fall on my arse, I think Ted saw the funny side of it (Kerry certainly did) I was surprised by the amount of people who stopped and chattered because they are or have been staffie owners. Didn't actually see their dogs but the chat was good.
Anyway, we've got some great pictures, unfortunately not on the digi camera, I'll get them scanned at work and get some to you.
BAGLEY
Bagley is settling in brilliantly (mostly!). His personality is developing, as are his muscles. He is soppy, excitable, responsive and great fun. He has endeared himself to everyone he has met-even non-dog lovers! I invested in a cage which serves its function for short periods, but he did wreck his nose trying to get out! I have also had a 14ft dog run made, with a nice bed area which he managed to semi-destroy on his second time in it (even though he had his Kong, chews, pieces of wood to chew) It had been made with extra strong wood and mesh, but our little blunderbus managed to get through-I'm reinforcing it this weekend!
Seriously, he is wonderful. Harriett is totally besotted, Jess is very happy with him, and he is well known in the village already. He is a creature of routine-must have a cuddle, then food, then he will go out. He is very good on his walks-I am letting him go further without the lead, and regularly calling him back-he is doing well. He has added lots of work, financial problems, more chaos, and lots and lots of love and fun-what more could we ask for? We love him to bits!! Thanks again-will send some photos when I have them
Another update on Bagley: - Won't be able to make this as we are elsewhere that weekend. Just to update you-Bagley is wonderful. He has settled so well. Both my daughters adore him, and he has really helped Jess in her recovery since coming out of hospital. She talks, laughs and sings to him and this has been an amazing encouragement as she has been so silent for so long. His unconditional love is also what she has needed. Many thanks again for giving us the chance to have him! Have a great Christmas. (We are hoping he won't pinch the turkey!)
SCRUMPY
Scrumpy has settled in just fine, he is enjoying his
new home and family very much. He is walking about four or five miles a day
with three of us taking him out each day. He had his first visit to the
Vets last Saturday and had his first jabs; he is going back next week to complete them.
The vet thought Scrumpy should put on a bit more weight; he currently weighs
17.8Kg / 39.6 pounds. We are going to try to get him up to about 45 to 48 pounds and Sid
thought this would be about the right for him.
The jumping up that was such a problem to start with is almost none existent now,
Scrumpy is very well behaved and after licking visitors hands he happily lies on the
floor. He has not chewed anything, we bought him a Kong, a large
knotted rope and an indestructible plastic ball and these seem to keep him happy
(especially the ball). We have decided that we will not let Scrumpy
of the lead for the moment and have bought him a 5M recoil lead that gives him a bit more
freedom at the seafront or down the backwaters.
DAISY
Just to let you know how Daisy is settling
in. She seems very well in herself, eating everything put down to her including pasta or
rice. Her ribs are less noticeable and we feel she is putting on weight. She walks well on
a lead we have got her a wander lead and we have delayed contacting you until now as daisy
had an appointment with the vet this morning and we wanted to here her opinion before
getting back to you.
Daisy is very well a little thin but very fit. There are no adverse signs she probably has had a litter, she cannot tell if she has been spayed she weighs 14 kilos, her weight did surprise us at nearly 31lbs(old money) she was heavier than we thought. That's it for now will keep you in touch with daisy's progress.
MOJO
Its all going very well here with Joe, as Mojo is now called. He obviously didn't notice the change! He's very fit, coat shining and I think a bit stockier- lots of walks about 2 hours a day usually. A couple of trips to the Vets has sorted out the earmites on his ears and he's had his inoculations and been microchipped. We're planning to have him neutered after Xmas.
Joe became pretty settled here quite quickly. After the first week sleeping in his cage, he now spends the night in his bed in the kitchen, in fact sometimes settles down there without being told to. He's very good in the house, doesn't jump on the furniture or beg for food when we're eating. He is very playful and is obsessed with rubber balls - very difficult to get him to let go of one. Probably, best of all he seems to tolerate other dogs well. He will almost ignore a leadless dog rushing up to him on a lead - great! So, all in all we are very very happy with him. Thanks for letting us have him.
HARRY/MISTA
Harry spent quite some time looking for a home, but a more 'right' home could
not of been found for him than the one he now has! Harry is now called 'Mista' and
is walked on the beach twice daily, other than this he spends his days with his 'dad' and
many friends that he has made in the short time he's been with his new family

Despite trying for a couple of months to put weight on Harry whilst he was with us, kennels didn't suit him and although he was always a loving boy, he was getting depressed and the weight just wouldn't go on - But 'Mista' is now looking much better as the photographs show!
EMMA
I'm Emma and I am writing to say thank you for my move to Northamptonshire I have my new family, Tricia and Charlie well trained they learn fast they know when I go to a certain cupboard i want treats when I rattle my bowl I want more food in the middle of the night when I want to go out I just paw Tricia and she will let me out I do a little dance and Charlie takes me out for a walk I have an hour in their bed before they sleep and again before they get up
Everyone loves me I have made friends with some more Staffies on my walks.Ii have a choice of places to sleep depending on how I feel, but I did slip up once Tricia and Charlie went away for a night I was left well cared for and with company, you see I had been quite voice wise Tricia did mention I did not talk much, well when they got home I went bananas I was glad to see then and that they had not left me I made a right racket to thank you for coming home I ended up at the vet in case I had a cold or something worse but of course clean bill of health and I talk all the time now it is so much better silly me.
I even saved Charlie after being here just a week my new dad collapsed and I stayed with him keeping him warm and licking him until he woke up, I guess I have found my forever family now as eveyone calls me a hero
Thank you again love Emma xxxxxxxxxx
CASSIE now SUGAR
Sugar (used to be Cassie) is
doing fantastic. We cannot fault her in any way, shape or form. As
you are aware, when we took Sugar from you, she weighed in at 47 lbs!!!! Yeah,
for a standard staffy bitch, some 12 to 15lb over weight. Since she has been
with us she is walked and run every day without fail, never has any tit bits, is
fed twice a day on James Wellbeloved dry dog food and has 2 small raw hide chews
each day. As a result, Sugar's coat gleams and shines. She is as fit
as a fiddle and now has a lovely sculptured body and weighs in at 34lb.
She is not destructive in any way, has never messed, is not a barker, never
jumps up people, does not mouth peoples arms, walks great on a lead, she is
exceptionally inteligent and athletic - shows no fear with height when negotiating
obstacles, loves to play and more than anything loves joining in with the rest
of the family.
We have decided that we would like to have another staffy from your rescue home.
We are more than confident that Sugar will be a great role model for another
Staffy who is in need of a great home and secure life.
Please can you help us to help you!!!!
DIESEL
I’ve been here in my new home for nearly a year now and I’ve really settled in and found my place in the family. When I first came to stay I was a real mummy’s boys and didn’t want to leave her side but I love my daddy now too and thankfully he loves me as I keep getting him in trouble with mummy by encouraging him to wrestle me on their bed! It’s such good fun and I am desperate every morning for daddy to get up as that means its breakfast time and I also get to lie on their bed so I sometimes sneak in when mummy is getting ready and wake him up with a kiss. Mummy should see what fun we have when she has gone to work, but don’t tell her!
I’m so cute I can worm my way in anywhere. When I first moved in I wasn’t allowed on the sofa or in the bedroom but it didn’t take me long to get my way! Me and mummy love a cuddle on the sofa watching tv but she has to turn up the TV as I quite often snore very loud, sometimes waking myself up!
I’ve even made friends with the local butcher so now when we go to see him he saves me some bones which are just the best ever and I can sit outside for hours chewing them and throwing them in the air because I like to treat my bones like they are alive and play games with them. I’m not allowed them too often as they do make me do little trumps but I think sometimes I get the blame when it isn’t even me!
I go to work with my daddy almost every day in his big van, and now he’s got a nice new one I have two seats to myself to lie on but when we are driving I like to lay my head on his knee but sometimes I’m a bit nosey and like to see where we are going then I get a whiff of air though the air vents and I glue my nose to it having a good ol’ sniff.
Sometimes I have to spend the day with my nanny if daddy can’t take me to work but I don’t mind as she loves me as I’m her first grandchild! We go out for walks and play all day long. She always gives me treats and buys me little prezzies and I know exactly what cupboard to go to in their house as well as everyone else’s I visit, I don’t forget where the biscuits are kept!
I’ve been a really good boy though, I’ve hardly eaten anything around the house except once I ate one of mummy’s wellies which I got in a bit of trouble for but a little wag of the tail got me out of that one. I do have a little obsession with sponge though; I think at last count I’d eaten about 11 bathroom sponges! Well I don’t really eat them, I just rip them up into little tiny pieces and decorate the carpet with them. I just can’t control myself, I no it’s wrong and that I shouldn’t do it but I just have to. I could do worse and hopefully mummy and daddy appreciate that I don’t chew anything else and will let me off if I have to do it again.
This was my first Christmas here and it was great because mummy and daddy had both their parents round for buffet tea and as everyone adores me I only had to look at them and give my paw to make them feel sorry for me like I was starving and they gave me a bit of extra for dinner off the table, I was in my element.
Thank you to the volunteers of the EASBTC for finding me a loving forever home, I’m a very happy boy.
Big licks and paws, Diesel.
MILLIE

Milly is doing really well and
seems to have settled immediately. Milly is already popular with all
the primary school children and seems to be a minor local celebrity now at the
school gates!! She is having 3 walks a day, normally totalling 2 hours or
so. Milly is fascinated by passing cars and often stops for a good look!
She has also developed a flying leap into the back of our car which is very
funny!! Milly is great with the family and is proving very obedient. She
is good on the lead and only mouths us when she is very excited. All in all,
things are going very well for Milly, so you can assure her fomer keeper that
Milly is happy and well. She is the smelliest dog I have ever known ha ha
but will get a nice shampoo and set soon!!
TOBY

Here they are Poppy with her “new” boyfriend “Tubs” or Toby as was, all enjoying a fuss.
BANDIT

Hi Jo, just to let you see how
she's progressing - she has a thin coat of fur covering her now, she has also
not had an accident in the house for about 9 days!!! She was 11kg on her
first visit to the vet and a week later weighed 11.6kg, which was less than we
expected as she feels heavier than that when you pick her up! She has
gained alot of confidence & has 'mad half hours' where she treats the house
like a race track.
And look at Bandit now........

BRUISER

Bruiser (AKA Bruce/Crusty) has
got a thing for toilet rolls at the moment, oh & printer paper, quietly shreds
it while I type LOL
He got wormed today & hopefully vaccinated next week, can get him up the
woods & fields then.
Regards
Mark
Bruiser Update, 12th February 2008........................ Bruiser has been running round outside today on his first walk with his new family along with Stafford 'Jenny'.

KAZ

Hi Jo,I wanted to give you an
update on Kaz and to also send you some pictures so you can see hows hes doing.
We've had Kaz as a part of our family for just over 3 weeks and he has just
fitted right in and its difficult to remember what it was like before we had him
now! He is such a good little boy and so well behaved it is unbelievable, the
cats have relented and I even caught one of them playing with him the other day
though im sure the cat would be disgusted to know that I had seen him ha ha! Kaz
really enjoys his walks and we go "crashing" through the fields every
day, he has met the rest of the family dogs who he has got on with fantastically
and its great to see Kaz and Casper (another EASBTC rescue) playing together. He
loves to play fetch and if I'm not picking the sticks up quickly enough for him
he'll go and find his own until I take the hint ;-) he also love to fetch tennis
balls though I think we should take shares out in them as they only last 1 walk
each! He really enjoys his (and everyone else's) food,he has taken to sleeping
on our bed and he is Evans best friend and follows him everywhere (even in the
car to Nursery) . Thanks so much for introducing us to Kaz he brings so much joy
to us all, Love from Carly, Dean & Evan x

ROXY
Hi Jo, just dropping a line update you on how Roxy is doing.having seen her on the easbtc rescue page me and the missus both said there was something about the little girl in the photo and the story of her needing rehoming. All grey around the chops and 10 years old we thought why not.Having owned a staffie for 14 years and having lost him last may we really wanted another staff because the house had been missing a little some thing.
So we went to see Roxy on new
years eve and fell for her straight away and could see she had been well loved
and looked after a real credit to the people who had her. A real little
bundle of energy and a typical staff personality. We got her home
and it just felt right and she has settled down very quickly and is a very well
behaved and has slotted into our lifes as if shes been here for years. She loves
her long walks twice a day and loves to play in the evenings with all her toys
and the kids and loves her belly rubs. just like to say thanks to Jo and Tracy
and all who work behind the scene's at the EASBTC you do a great job
for these little guys
All the best Steve Emma & girls x
LADY
Hi Lesley, just to let you know how " the new addition to the family " is doing. From the moment Lady walked through the door, with a smile on her face and a typically wagging tail, she found her place in the family. Usually stretched out on the sofa, snoring for England, it's as if she has been here forever.
Lady has become good friends with the chickens and takes great pleasure protecting them from the local cats. (safeguarding the future of the resulting egg sandwich more like). She is a joy to have round the house, always happy and ready to please, even when that means saving us from the evil hoover that lives under the stairs!
Thanks again - Clive and family.
