MINOR PUPPY DOG (3, 1 abs)
1st Mr R Cricks JIMMY WIZEL OF CRICKELSTAFF (BEST PUPPY
DOG AND BEST OPPOSITE SEX PUPPY IN SHOW) What a
lovely start to the show, stunning head and good mouth on this very forward dark brindle
pup. Strong deep and short muzzle with clean
lip. Lovely true front, good bone and on nice
feet, first class topline and powerful well put together backend. His condition, spring of rib and muscle definition
were first class and not what I would have expected from one so young, very promising pup. BEST PUPPY
DOG AND BEST OPPOSITE SEX IN SHOW.
2nd Mr K & Mrs L Wells WELLSTAFFS NORFOLK LAD Had his work cut out as he was up against a first class puppy. Top sized pup with nice topline and backend, was in
fantastic coat and condition. Deep lustre from
his coat and firm to touch. Had the skull size
and head shape but it was a little plain for me, not as positive in the head as class
winner. Moved up and down the mat fairly well.
PUPPY DOG (3)
1st Mr C & Mr S Kemps CRASHKON TAKE A LOOK Very
strong headed brindle with a blunt square muzzle with lovely eyes, ears and expression. Stick out winner in this class, would have given
MPD a run for his money for Best Pup had the mouth been better. Both first and second have less than perfect bites,
but I felt this dog has more positive virtue. Great
overall balance and clean in appearance. Had a
little more lift than the second placed and turned out in good condition, best mover in
this class
2nd Ms N Booth & Mr P Grimwoods RAMBLESTAFF MAVRICK McLEAN
Compact and four square brindle dog who would not settle at all
for the handler. Had the beating of the class
winner in tuck up and spring of rib. Head of
nice proportions but not the virtue in the muzzle as first placed. Preferred the balance, head style and height of the
class winner.
3rd Mr M Humphries GOLIATH THE RED
JUNIOR DOG (6)
1st Mr M & Mrs K Dowses ROTHERSTAFF BLACK TIE (BEST DOG &
BEST OPPOSITE SEX) Top sized brindle dog who was
taller, longer in the back than second and third placed but had the other two beaten all
hands down. Lovely unexaggerated head on this
dogs with the most alert, keen expression and dark eye, lovely well set ears and boy was
he keen and up for it. What a handful for this
young leady handler. One of those dogs that
you have to go over to really appreciate. True
clean front, lovely weight of bone and tidy feet. This
dog is spoiled rotten and it shows in his coat, condition and handling, would need to go
up a notch in hardness to cut it at Champ shows but well worth the effort. Best of luck with him. BEST DOG AND
BEST OPPOSITE SEX IN SHOW.
2nd Mr J & Mrs V Browns ROTHERSTAFF SARACEN
Different style dog to class winner, shorter in the back and
shorter coupled than the winner. Neither of
these dogs moved very well due to handling, but the class winner just about showed me
enough. The head on this dog is fine but
lacked the quality of muzzle proportions and shape the winner had. Good compact dog with a gleaming coat. Front and feet are ok, never had the desired rear
end shape and rather straight in the stifle.

luscious red/white top sized dog who was in fantastic coat and condition. Plain in the head dog with rather long muzzle. Moved steadily and with some drive. Lovely topline, nice spring of rib and tucked up
very well
NOVICE DOG (6)
1st Mr & Mrs M Elys ARAIDH FAIRGROUND What a
dog this is and what a handful for the handler. Looked
at him front on in the line up and my heart skipped a beat.
Powerhouse of a dog faultlessly put together with a head that just screams Stafford
at you. Great width to his front on great feet
and bone and balance all in evidence, in better condition this boy was at least, best dog. Head was so strong and well proportioned, alert
expression with coal black eyes. One of those
moments as a judge you have to really work hard for your lunch. I really liked this dog but his weight was just way
too much for me. A dog who could in my
opinion, gain his title with some hard work and road miles.
Wish he was mine.

POST GRADUATE DOG (8, 3 abs)
1st CROSSGUNS TOM JONES Tiger brindle dog who was very
well put together. Front and rear construction
were good with nice level topline, but lacked real quality in the head, eyes little
bulbous. Stunning coat and condition and
handled very well indeed. How I wished others
could handle and turn out their dogs in this condition.
Beat the second placed dogs with a bit in hand but in particular in muzzle
and condition.
2nd Ms N Booth & Mr P Grimwoods IZUMIS POINT TO PROVE AT RAMBLESTAFF
Very clean brindle dog who did not have the head strength or
muzzle definition of the class winner. Soundly
put together dog, Good condition, moved fairly well.

OPEN DOG (9, 1 abs)
1st Mrs L Pages BENJERRIES BLUSTERS (RESERVE BEST DOG) Fantastic coat and condition on this very well put together
brindle who was absolutely gleaming. This is
how to turn a dog out for a show. So very well
balanced and as hard as nails. Nice head, good
mouth and without exaggerations, another dog who was hard to fault, other than having a
rather light eye. Close call between first and
second just preferred muzzle shape and depth of stop of this dog to second placed. RESERVE
BEST DOG
2nd Mr
C & Mrs G Dillons CRAGAILS GET A GRIP This
handler gets the very best out of his dog. Turned
out in first class condition, a different kind of fitness to the class winner this dog
looking more striped, slightly smaller, more compact dog with a shorter back than the
winner and he was very close coupled. Nice
shapely well balanced dog who goes in and out in all the right placed. Preferred stifle and keener expression of the class
winner.

1st GOLIATH THE RED As the name suggests this is a big
lad. Top sized lovely coated red/white dog who
is constructed very well. Full of fun and
enjoyed his day out. Everything was in
proportion, he just had too much of it. My
notes say, best mouth of the day with massive canines and he moved well.
VETERAN DOG (3, 1 abs)
1st Miss J Essexs JAVAWOLF RED BULL (BEST VETERAN DOG
& BEST OPPOSITE SEX VETERAN IN SHOW) Lovely
standard dog with nothing overdone. Great
condition for age. Lovely front on this dog
finished off with tight feet. Nice topline and
well shaped rear end. Touch plain headed
but more class in muzzle shape and definition than second placed.
2nd Mr S & Mrs A Baxters MOSSTAFF KING LOUIE Stunning
condition on this 7 year old black brindle. One
of the best moving dogs all day, cracking topline and good rear angles. Different style of head to the class winner, this
guy had more width of skull and depth but not the balanced proportions of first placed.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (1, 1abs)
PUPPY BITCH (4)
1st Mr C & Mrs J Stones ASHBULL BLACK MAGIC
(BEST PUPPY
BITCH, BEST BITCH, BEST PUPPY IN SHOW & BEST IN SHOW) Classy brindle bitch who had breed type in abundance. Has the head style and expression that I love,
gorgeous head that is all Stafford while remaining feminine.
Lovely eye placement and set off with nice ears that she used so well. Looked a picture from all angles. Handler needs to pay attention to her front when
stacked. Needs roadwork to tighten up her feet
and sort her coat out for the Championship shows that surely lie ahead.
2nd Ms D Atherton & Ms F Kemps ASHBULL ESMERALDA Very similar style bitch but has not the class of the winner. Not a lot between them behind the neck but was well
beaten in the head. No shame to be stood
second to her litter sister though. Longer in
the back and more lift than first placed. Lacked
spark and eagerness of the winner.

feminine with it. Darkest of eye, great mouth. In good condition and handled very well. Lovely when viewed from the top. Beat second on height, expression and slightly more
athleticism.
2nd Ms S Stevens ROTHERSTAFF DARK AND SHARP Really
sweet faced bitch with melt your heart eyes. Clean
headed bitch and very nicely put together. Never
had the strength of head or the lift of the winner. She
was a little lethargic and made the handler work hard.

without coarseness or exaggeration and more feminine than second placed who was way to
doggy. Lovely shape and profile about her
although touch straight in stifle.

coat and condition but way too much for me. Fairly
well put together and moved well.

2nd Miss

sized brindle who was lethargic and out of show condition.

better ears. Nice mouth.

day. Strong well shaped feminine head on this

in it. RESERVE

bitch who never had many faults just lacked the class of some of todays other

more feminine appearance and lacked the coarseness of the second place.

SPECIAL OPEN FAWN OR FAWN/WHITE BITCH (3, 1abs)
1st Mrs R Waters ASHSTOCK EASTER ROSE Best
moving dog of the day, maintained the perfect width at the rear and moved with drive. Top quality bitch with a head to die for. With better ears and condition she was a serious
contender. The shortness of back, the lovely
topline that cobby foursquare look, all great attributes.
Quality bitch, pity about the waistline.
2nd JAVAWOLF MOGWAI Not much of a contest as this
girl was up against a first class example of the breed.
Very well put together bitch who had fantastic pigmentation, jet black nails
on really nice feet. Good weight of bone and
very clean lines on this well turned out bitch.
VETERAN BITCH (3, 2 abs)
1st ARAIDH SWEETEST TABOO (BEST VETERAN BITCH & BEST VETERAN
IN SHOW) Given this iconic bitches owner is set to
move to another country and this was the last time I would probably see either of them it
made this all the more poignant. It was a long
journey from Glasgow to this venue but worth it to lay hands on this truly legendary Stafford
who has done so much for the breed. What a
head and condition on this 13 year old. Still
as fit as a flea. Lovely true front and
gorgeous tight feet, topline and backend as good as you will see. Thanks for the memories and pleasure of going over
her Wendy and Bon Voyage. B
